Our Dream Home

Our Dream Home

So, I still remember that literally the second time Grant ever came to my house, I caught him taking really big dramatic steps in my closet. So I ask, "What are you doing?" And he was like it's my builder walk. He said he had to make sure that he would be able to build me a closet big enough. Keep in mind this was his second time to ever come to my house, so I just kind of heard it and closed my ears towards any more talk. So if you don't already know, when Grant and I met and started dating we were basically neighbors. Grant lived .6 miles behind me and he helped develop the neighborhood that I lived in. He actually told me the night he met me that he knew where I lived because he had complaint letters that he never delivered my way. 34 emails to be exact now that I have asked him more recently. So anyways, I would see Grant working on house plans. At first I was real weird and din't want any part of it, because I did not want us to be moving too fast in our dating life. Then I figured well he is for sure either going to build...Read More
One of my Fave Tops of ALL Time!

One of my Fave Tops of ALL Time!

So if you've been following along with me in the past, you will know that I own my own boutique - Southern Jewlz. A lifestyle boutique that totally encourages women to be beautiful from the inside out, complimentary to others, confident, strong, courageous, goal-oriented, while also being down home, welcoming and hospitable. Basically the brand and all who wear it encompass what it means to be a Southern Jewl. Anyways, Southern Jewlz began as a hobby for me my sophomore year of college in December of 2007 - so it's not one of those "come and go within just a few years" types of boutiques. You could say there have been a lot of tops that have come in and out of the Southern Jewlz doors. Now why am I going on and on? Well because I need you to know how big of a deal this top is to be one of my favorites of all time! So the first part I love about it is the sweetheart neckline. Plus, I have always been an off the shoulder fan! I feel very "sexy".....yes, I said it haha...whenever I have my shoulders showing off. I feel it's a great way to show a great body feature without showing too much! This top...Read More
Obsessed with Stripes and Rompers!

Obsessed with Stripes and Rompers!

Hey y'all! Ok I promise I won't always just blog my fashion fashion pieces from Southern Jewlz Boutique, but there are just too many fabulous new arrivals that I love so much right now. I'll be working on a home DIY blog over this weekend and will get back to my fitness kicks for y'all next week, too! But how stinking cute is this romper? I'm in a small and it runs a little roomy, so if you're that in between size kinda girl, you should be safe to order down. But if you're tall or long torso'ed, I would advise to not size down just because it is still a romper and length is your friend when wearing a romper. I love how it's off the shoulder, the flirty bell sleeves and the ruffles around the bottom of the shorts add a slimming touch for my thighs (my hardest area to lose). Elastic waist band because pieces that are more comfy and don't have zippers allow me to move around in. You know, like for weekend things! Hope everyone had a great first week of my blog! Thanks for following along! These shoes are by Jessica Simpson and I purchased them years ago, so no way I can link them. And...Read More
Light and Healthy Dinner for 2

Light and Healthy Dinner for 2

Hey y'all, so if you follow me on snapchat (which you totally should) then you'll know I've been cooking a lot more. I love to do my wife like duties of cooking for Grant when I can. And since I closed my storefront, I am home way more at dinner time these days. Now I'm no food photographer, but I want to keep this blog very well rounded of my lifestyle so it's time I share some more from within my kitchen. If you didn't catch my spaghetti squash recipe, you should be sure and check that out, too! So this is an example of when I cook for us at home. Except we also eat a lot of chicken, beef, pork and other seafood. This meal is a little light on the meat side compared to what we normally eat. The salad is made with red lettuce salad. It's become my absolute favorite because of flavor and texture. Then I browned in a skillet some onions, mushroom and red bell peppers. I thawed out some salad sized shrimp and topped with one of my new favorite dressings. It's an avacado oil by Wishbone. They also have a new bacon flavor one that we just got and I'm excited to use! I...Read More
My Diet Overview!

My Diet Overview!

Since I get a lot of questions about the diet portion of my fitness journey, I wanted my first blog in my diet category to be a little broad.  I can then in my future posts and after hearing more of your questions become more specific :) So the main points I hit on my diet are as follows: I do not go out to eat Monday - Friday Lunch (Friday Evening starts my weekend!) I only drink water, coffee, crystal light, and maybe an occasional low calorie gatorade during the week.  No sweet tea, no sodas, no alcohol, beer, wine or liquor.  On the weekends (primarily only Friday evening and Saturday), I only normally add in a little wine, some vodka and maybe a few sugar free red bull's. Every once in a while I'll Sunday Funday, but usually after Friday evening and Saturday, I'm ready to get back to the grind on Sunday and start a fresh new week! Fresh fruits and vegetables are a total must every single day. I probably consume anywhere from 4-6 of the smoothies that I make weekly. Grant and I either cook for each other or cook together every evening of the week.  Cooking at home cuts out so many extra calories, saves money...Read More

3 Ingredient Twice Baked Spaghetti Squash

So snaps for my very FIRST recipe blog!  Yes, I made dinner this evening and I just had to share this super easy 3 ingredient recipe I came up with! So 2 days ago I made Grant and I a  cream whole 30 bacon and garlic spaghetti squash casserole.  Although the recipe is not mine, I did get it off of my pinterest which took me to paleoglutenfree.com.  So here is the recipe that started me on this whole spaghetti squash thing. So, I had purchased a really large spaghetti squash and had half of it leftover that I had already baked and softened from this recipe a few days before.  So tonight when I made hamburger steak with mushrooms and onion as well as asparagus, I decided to get creative with my extra spaghetti squash! What you will need: Spaghetti Squash (Already baked once in the oven at 350 degrees with a small amount of water at the bottom of the pan) Can of Tomatoes (this low sodium one by Hunt's is my personal favorite to use) Shredded Mozzarella Cheese (do NOT get the fat free because this is one food item where the fat free tastes fat free) All I did was scrape out all of the softened spaghetti squash...Read More
Our Rehearsal Dinner Video

Our Rehearsal Dinner Video

Hey there.  So I hesitated on sharing something with the entire world that I made for our closest family and friends to see at our rehearsal dinner, but then I re-evaluated and told myself, "Randa, if you're going to be a Lifestyle Blogger, you've gotta get used to sharing a lot about you", so here we are. For those of you that kept up with my wedding planning process, you will know I went for a storybook/fairytale theme.  The official theme would be said as "Classic Fairytale meets Victorian Valentine".  So creating a video to tell mine and Grant's stories growing up and beginning to date and through our engagement to share at our rehearsal dinner was a project I was super excited to work on.  I even had a custom Disney opening animation created to add to the film. I'll share more from our big weekend along my blogging journey, so I hope you look forward to more! So without further adue, here you go.  I hope you enjoy seeing more into my life and love I have for Grant!  Cheers to learning a little more about us! https://youtu.be/QbcJcR7IQhE xoxo,
I Post to Empower Rather than to be Accepted

I Post to Empower Rather than to be Accepted

Hey y'all! So I've been noticing something lately, even within myself so I decided to share on my blog. How easy is it to get caught up to where you only post for the "likes"? I'm guilty of this sometimes, too! So many people think that the number of followers or the number of likes instantly correlates to your credibility. And I beg to differ. You see since I've launched my lifestyle blog, my instagram pictures corresponding to the posts have not all been very popular. Some have even the fewest number of likes of any of my posts. However, the feedback on my blog and the traffic on my site is growing daily. So, I know people are SEEING what I am posting. And a lot are even READING and CLICKING on what I'm sharing. So those few number of likes? Who cares! Because I choose to use social media to impact others and to share who I am. Most of my blog pictures are taken at sunset at the end of a work day by my husband. I have tried to do very little editing to keep it more raw and real for y'all. Now in these pictures, I will say my spray tan is a little on the janky...Read More
Meet Randa Carrabba: New Lifestyle Blogger

Meet Randa Carrabba: New Lifestyle Blogger

Well hello there!  First off, thank you for joining me on my newest embarkment: my very own lifestyle blog! I would like to first off tell you a little bit about myself.  My name is Randa Carrabba (gosh, I love saying that!) and as of today I have been married to the love of my life for exactly one month.  My maiden name was Randa Yezak and most of you know me through my business journey with Southern Jewlz Boutique.  And if you didn't previously know me, let me give you a quick run down: I grew up in the small town of Bremond, Texas (population 876) where I graduated Valedictorian of the High School class of 2005.  In high school, I was that super well rounded and involved in as much as I could be type of girl.  Only 3 days after graduation, I moved to the metropolis of Bryan/College Station to become a first generation Aggie!  I graduated in 2009 with a degree in Animal Science and business and was the College of Agriculture and Life Science's Nominee for the Brown Rudder Award (The overall top senior of the entire University; the highest honor that can be won).  Many people don't know this about me, and I normally don't mention...Read More
How to Choose Your Bridesmaids {& Bridal Party}

How to Choose Your Bridesmaids {& Bridal Party}

Hello all! I am sooo excited to share this blog post in hopes that I help OR touch many other bride-to-be's and maybe even some other women who may simply be struggling in the girlfriend department.   Whether you're single, already married, or engaged and planning a wedding, who you choose as you bridal party or even just as your friends is a BIG DEAL!  Ok here it goes... I'm a girl's girl.  I believe strongly in women loving, supporting and empowering each other... Let me start by saying I am a girl's girl.  I have always said that a girl who has no girlfriends and "only gets along with the guys because they don't have any drama" is a red flag.  I also feel that a girl who has new girlfriends every year rather than keeping and investing in any previous friendships raises some eyebrows as well.  I believe that as women, we need other women friends.  Sometimes the men in our lives just don't "get" certain things. And I love to support and promote women to be the happiest and the best version of themselves.  That's a lot of the meaning behind my Southern Jewlz company.  Jewl: a self motivated woman who believes in empowering, complimenting and encouraging other women. My personal...Read More
