I Post to Empower Rather than to be Accepted

I Post to Empower Rather than to be Accepted

Hey y'all! So I've been noticing something lately, even within myself so I decided to share on my blog. How easy is it to get caught up to where you only post for the "likes"? I'm guilty of this sometimes, too! So many people think that the number of followers or the number of likes instantly correlates to your credibility. And I beg to differ. You see since I've launched my lifestyle blog, my instagram pictures corresponding to the posts have not all been very popular. Some have even the fewest number of likes of any of my posts. However, the feedback on my blog and the traffic on my site is growing daily. So, I know people are SEEING what I am posting. And a lot are even READING and CLICKING on what I'm sharing. So those few number of likes? Who cares! Because I choose to use social media to impact others and to share who I am. Most of my blog pictures are taken at sunset at the end of a work day by my husband. I have tried to do very little editing to keep it more raw and real for y'all. Now in these pictures, I will say my spray tan is a little on the janky...Read More
Meet Randa Carrabba: New Lifestyle Blogger

Meet Randa Carrabba: New Lifestyle Blogger

Well hello there!  First off, thank you for joining me on my newest embarkment: my very own lifestyle blog! I would like to first off tell you a little bit about myself.  My name is Randa Carrabba (gosh, I love saying that!) and as of today I have been married to the love of my life for exactly one month.  My maiden name was Randa Yezak and most of you know me through my business journey with Southern Jewlz Boutique.  And if you didn't previously know me, let me give you a quick run down: I grew up in the small town of Bremond, Texas (population 876) where I graduated Valedictorian of the High School class of 2005.  In high school, I was that super well rounded and involved in as much as I could be type of girl.  Only 3 days after graduation, I moved to the metropolis of Bryan/College Station to become a first generation Aggie!  I graduated in 2009 with a degree in Animal Science and business and was the College of Agriculture and Life Science's Nominee for the Brown Rudder Award (The overall top senior of the entire University; the highest honor that can be won).  Many people don't know this about me, and I normally don't mention...Read More
Reasons I am Thankful my Mom was my Mom and not my Friend Growing Up

Reasons I am Thankful my Mom was my Mom and not my Friend Growing Up

So with it being Mother's Day Weekend, I was thinking I should write a blog in honor of my mom to totally make her weekend. And then, the more I got to thinking on actually what I would write about, I started taking the topic a little more seriously. Because being a mom is such an IMPORTANT job, I wanted to be sure to portray the best and most accurate message I could to explain what my mom has meant in my life. Let me just start by saying I am going to be honest and real. I feel so many people who have followed me are used to my Southern Jewlz glitter, my unicorn obsession and me posting more of the "rainbows and butterfly" types of pictures. But when I decided to blog, my purpose was to share and to be transparent. My journey is not like everybody else's, and I also do not think my journey is any "better" than anybody else's. So here it goes. A tribute to my mother, Lisa Anne Yezak, and why I am thankful for the way she raised me. When I was a little girl, I was hands down a daddy's girl and I was proud told to tell anybody that. My dad still...Read More
One Door Closed is Another Door Opened

One Door Closed is Another Door Opened

So if you keep up with me on social media (primarily instagram or snapchat), you'll know that I spent this weekend at my old boutique location with a Southern Jewlz pop up shop in conjunction with the Mule Barn Boutique's new College Station store grand opening. And let me say that I do want to try to keep this blog as most of my own personal identity, rather than my work identity. However, sometimes the two collide and this story would be one of those instances! So a quick run down for you newbies (welcome btw!), I recently closed the store front of my business to make my new husband my top priority and to focus online only. You can read my formal "New Year New Direction" announcement blog from the beginning of this year to all my customers here. So yesterday was kind of like my first day "back" to what was a part of my life for 6 1/2 years. I had a little pink building location for a year and a half and then 5 years at the location I decided to close the doors to and hand the keys over to my sweet friend Nancy Gilmore - owner of the Mule Barn Boutique, which has its mother ship...Read More
You Can Love Yourself without Being Self Absorbed

You Can Love Yourself without Being Self Absorbed

So I got my first really negative feedback on my blog. I was told that I'm just self absorbed and boast myself over and over for the same things and the reader commented asking me just what I had done to think that I should put myself in the inspirational category. I read all of this viewer's thoughts and even after a day to process, I kindly responded that I was appreciative of the feedback and ready to receive both the positive and negative with putting more of myself in front of others with my blog. Honestly, that comment led me to writing this blog post. It's like that quote "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade out of them". I looked up just what self absorbency was to make sure that what I thought of self absorbency was accurate. In my mind, self absorbency is a person who is only into themselves and only cares about themselves rather than anybody else. But when I looked up through a couple of other sources, I found that self absorbency is also when a person has no care about how their words or actions may affect or hurt others. When I first got the comment I was like "What if my readers really do...Read More
The Reason Why I Didn’t Post a Picture of my Wedding Ring until Now

The Reason Why I Didn’t Post a Picture of my Wedding Ring until Now

Hey y'all! So I'm feeling super girl boss-ish this evening, and I wanted to share what's running through my mind with each of y'all! So I've joined in on the Jenna Kutcher instagram challenge and I am so glad I did. What first I was very nervous to jump on board with has me super feeling confident in who and what I am! You can follow along on my instagram account to see for yourself. Anyways, today I am sharing more about myself. Those of you who know me as the owner of Southern Jewlz boutique know that there is a crown in the logo. So I wanted to share a little more on what the crown symbolizes to me. The crown is a symbol of royalty to me. When I look at the SJ crown I think of a powerful female who is beautiful from the inside out. She is confident, yet encouraging and stunning, yet complimentary. When I question or look up more of the official meaning, I am soon to be answered with "power, legitimacy, victory, triumph, honor, and glory, righteousness, and resurrection." And you know what? I can't argue with any of those. At first I thought that resurrection was too far off and that I should leave...Read More
Be the Energy You Want to Attract

Be the Energy You Want to Attract

Hey y'all! I hope everyone's Summer is starting off great. It's super hot here in Texas, that's for sure. So I have a super cute outfit I want to share with y'all, but I wanted to make the focus of this blog about radiating the type of vibes that you want to receive. So when I was growing up, my mom's primary rule was to do unto others as you would want them to do to you. I mean this is the golden rule for a reason, right!? Anyways, I have really been trying to cut back on my to-do's, live more in the moment, not try to please everybody, and basically to be the positive bright shining light that I want to see in the world. Being less overwhelmed and putting less pressure on myself immediately makes me smile and be happier! It's so easy for life to get busy, for you to get drained, and for negativity to start to breathe through your thoughts, words and actions. I have made it a point to focus on being more positive and encouraging these past few weeks. It not only makes me feel good to be encouraging and supportive to others, but it makes me feel good on the inside. And you...Read More
Things I’ve Learned Since Launching my Blog

Things I’ve Learned Since Launching my Blog

Hey y'all! Today has been a little less energy than normal for me. Not all days am I hyped up and full of spunk, and today is one of those days. I think primarily because yesterday was a typical Monday and tomorrow is a big photo shoot and Facebook live day for me over at Southern Jewlz. So my blog has been live for about 2 months so far. And I've learned a lot about myself from blogging. Since I just got a few pics back from James Barrett Photography and had already used this outfit for a Reign Lash post, I wanted to use these photos for a new post. And what way rather than sharing my learning experience thus far. 1. Blogging has made me feel like I have an outlet where I can truly express myself. Whether that be with fashion, beauty, life lessons, being Grant's wife - the list can go on. And I want my blog to truly mirror the look and style that I see for myself and my life. And that is exactly what is starting to shape up. I've been growing the Southern Jewlz brand for years, and last year I even freshened up the logo and cleaned up the website to look a...Read More
How to Get Over a Break Up – The Healthy Way!

How to Get Over a Break Up – The Healthy Way!

Hey y'all! First off, congrats to my recent blog giveaway winners - Rachel Meadows, Savana Geringer and Valerie Vasquez. I had 149 people successfully enter and I continue to be so grateful for the support I have received since launching my personal blog outside of the Southern Jewlz blog. I've been shooting new fashion looks the past two days to share with y'all next, but since I haven't done a "writing" type of a blog in a little bit, I wanted to speak about something that is near and dear to my heart. From my experience at Southern Jewlz, I get to work with and mentor lots of young ladies as they naturally come to me for help or guidance through their college years and shortly after. I have recently been asked by a few followers how I handled going through break ups in the past, and I am ready to share in hopes to help somebody who may be struggling in that department. Just starting to type this blog can make me think back to so much pain and heartache that others have caused me in the past. It makes me cherish my current place of life and the special relationships that make me feel so loved. But the best part...Read More
